The forty-first SICE Annual Conference (SICE2002), sponsored by the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers (SICE) of Japan, will be held at Osaka International Convention Center, Osaka, Japan on August 5-7, 2002. The conference is technically cosponsored by the Industrial Electronics Society of the IEEE (IEEE/IES), the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (IEEE/RAS), the IEEE Control Systems Society (IEEE/CSS) and the Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society (ISA). The conference is held in cooperation with IEEE Japan Council, IFAC Japan Council, the Institute of Control, Automation and Systems Engineers (ICASE), Chinese Automatic Control Society (CAC) and China Instrument Society (CIS).  More than 1500 engineers and researchers have participated in recent SICE Annual Conferences. In SICE2002, all the papers must be written in English.

Activities of the SICE are wide spread from measurement and control to variety of systems analysis and designs, from theory to application, or from software to hardware. Relevant topics include:

Attention! SICE Web server will be stopped for maintenance
from April 26, 17:00 to May 1, 9:00 JST.

and submit an extended summary of 500 to 1000 words, including authors' names, addresses, affiliations, name of the presenter, postal mail and e-mail addresses of the corresponding author and telephone/facsimile numbers (the submit will be availabe on and after January 7 2002). Inquiries should be directed to the Chairman of the Program and Sessions Committee:

                Prof. Hideki Kokame

Authors' schedule is as follows:

Deadline for submission of summaries .............................................................. Mar. 10, 2002 New

                Notification of acceptance ............................................................................... April 17, 2002

Deadline for submission of final manuscript .................................................... May 22, 2002

One of the authors of each paper, who intends to present the paper in SICE2002, must be a member or a student member of SICE, IEEE, IFAC, ISA, ICASE, CAC or CIS. Contributions from abroad are exempt from this requirement. Papers accepted for the oral presentation must be presented in either English or Japanese. Visual aids such as transparencies should be prepared according to a set of guidelines, which will be sent to authors with each acceptance letter. All conference participants, including authors and session chairmen, are expected to pay conference registration fee, presentation fee (authors only) and their travel expenses. The SICE International Scholarship will be granted to selected foreign researchers who are young, have potential ability to contribute to the field of Instrument and Control Engineering, and come to Japan to present their papers.
